G'day from Downunder

G'day from Downunder

It is hard to believe we have been here for only 1 month as we have been extremely busy since we arrived. One thing that has remained constant is the weather which, apart from about 10-15ml of rain two weeks ago, has been gloriously sunny with temperatures in the high 20's to low 30's, so it's been shorts and t/shirt every day. We have had a lovely time with family especially the grandchildren who are growing rapidly. Dad celebrated his 92nd birthday a few days after our arrival so we had a lovely family luncheon and the same weekend Paul went to watch an Aussie Rules Football game with my younger brother. It was a real cultural experience and the two of us went again the next week, but I think 2 games in a row is just about enough. We were able to 'dog sit' for my nephew over Easter and now we have my daughter's dog staying with us , so Paul is in his element and is doing quite a bit of walking and bike riding around our local area. Last week we went to stay for a few days with my older brother who lives in Geraldton, a town on the coast about 360 miles north of Perth. Whilst there, he took us to see the fabulous gorges on the Murchison river at Kalbarri located about 100miles further north. We also went walking around the town site and had a short bike ride which was great except that my knees suffered somewhat. We are travelling south of Perth for another 5 day break mid May to Albany, a town located on the edge of the Southern Ocean. This area has the most marvellous scenery with coastal walks, wineries, whale watching and lots of things of interest to see and do. We will then be back in Perth for about 2 weeks before we fly back to UK. We are looking forward to seeing you at an IVC event really soon.
